Technology, Data, Analytics, AI & Quantum Strategy for a Major Canadian Bank

Ryan Sim was engaged long-term as a trusted independent strategy consultant to CIBC’s senior technology executives, working closely with the SVP of Architecture, Data & Analytics. An expert communicator and high-capacity leader influencing teams across multiple workstreams, Ryan worked with senior executives to define Technology Strategy and Transformation Programs, Data, Analytics, AI and Quantum Computing Strategies, as well as work on Technology Risk, Data Risk, Cloud Strategy, Data and AI Ethics topics, primarily for the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

Ryan coordinated and communicated early stages of multiple strategic transformation programs totalling over $225MM and winning the bank multiple awards. He was a key leader in establishing an in-branch agile lab that preceded a major CRM program. Ryan led bankwide application stability risk analysis, and process and application simplification efforts, and developed successive strategic and 90-day plans to launch and integrate new functions including business architecture, technology strategy consulting, data and analytics and data management and governance teams. Ryan was a thought leader on technology trends, including quantum computing, open banking and fully homomorphic encryption. Ultimately Ryan’s work improved the bank’s stability, agility, efficiency, future readiness and strategic alignment.

Key Contributor to a Paper on Quantum Adoption for Canadian Enterprise

Enterprise Quantum has been a key contributor and editor in developing a paper on adoption of quantum computing for Canadian critical infrastructure providers. EQ contributed its Quantum Readiness Journey to help structure the paper’s recommendations. Enterprise Quantum was proud to participate in this effort sponsored by the Canadian Forum for Digital Infrastructure Resilience (CFDIR) and its Quantum Readiness Working Group.
